Jeremy Lin Trade Rumors Put to Rest in Reddit AMA by Rockets GM Daryl Morey

Jeremy Lin has been the subject of many trade rumors this off season, but now he has the backing of everyone on the Houston Rockets as General Manager Daryl Morey took to Reddit to defend his point guard.

Appearing on an "Ask Me Anything" forum on Reddit, Morey spent last Friday fielding questions from thousands of NBA fans who asked him everything from what he thought about Google Glass to his thoughts on Lin.

His question regarding Lin asked if they ever thought of using him in a back-up role.

"It is amazing to me that all the time I encounter people feeling negative about Jeremy's season with us," Morey said. "Last year was Jeremy's 1st full year in the league. Essentially his rookie year. If last season would have been his rookie year and he never would have played in New York, right now people would be appropriately talking about him incessantly as one of the top young rookie stars in the league. He was the starting point guard on a playoff team in West at age 24!"

Morey also listed a number of key factors to why people may have been disappointed with Lin's play.

He cited the slow start to Lin's season was the cause of getting back to 100% after a bad back injury, and fans having an extremely unfair amount of expectations after his run as a star for the New York Knicks over a short period of time.

Morey also said people remember beginnings and endings more than the good he may have done during the middle of the season. Lin's season ended poorly because an injury rendered him almost useless in the playoffs.

Lin spoke of his own struggles in Houston recently at a youth convention in Taiwan.

"I was ready to invigorate the entire city of Houston ... I was supposed to save Houston basketball," he said at the conference. "But I didn't play well at the start of the season and took a back seat to a newly-signed teammate, James Harden."

He then told the 20,000 youth how he began to focus on God his season turned around.
