Johnny Depp's Song a 'Slap in Face' of Christians?

Johnny Depp is upsetting Christian leaders with his new song, “Jesus Stage Night Club.”

Depp recorded the song with British band Babybird and frontman, Stephen Jones. The song is about a character that looks like Jesus. Instead of healing and teaching the Word of God, the character enjoys getting drunk and going to gentlemen’s’ clubs in his spare time.

However, Depp and Jones reportedly brushed off the backlash from various Christian groups saying that they had “no sense of humor.”

The Christian Coalition spokesman, Lee Douglas, was outraged by Depp and his complacent attitude.

“I'm sure he thinks he's being very funny but he's simply a disgrace,” Douglas told the Daily Mail. “One day, Johnny Depp and his cronies will face the judgment of our Lord and they will burn in hell for this filth."

In addition to the criticism, the 48-year-old actor has been slapped with a police report.

Robyn Ecker, a 52-year-old disabled woman, attended singer Iggy Pop’s concert in the same V.I.P section where Depp and his party also watched the show. After Ecker reportedly got too close to the actor, his bodyguards allegedly wrestled her to the ground, according to TMZ. The disabled woman was then checked into a hospital before filing a police report against the actor.

Depp’s representatives have yet to confirm or deny the incident that took place last Thursday. The actor is currently gearing up to work on a new Tim Burton directed film “Dark Shadows,” where he will play a vampire next year.
