Leavitt ran for Congress
After Trump left office in 2021, Leavitt served as the communications director for Rep. Elise Stefanik, R-N.Y., whom Trump has since tapped to become the U.S. ambassador to the United Nations.
After her stint in Stefanik's office, Leavitt ran in 2022 to represent New Hampshire's 1st Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives, where the constitutional age minimum to serve is 25 years old.
While she lost in the general election to Democratic incumbent Rep. Chris Pappas, D-N.H., she won the primary, making her the second Gen Zer to do so.
Her campaign policies as a congressional candidate echoed those of Trump, as noted by the BBC. She pledged to "CUT taxes" and "champion pro-growth, free market policies."
She also expressed strong support for borders and law enforcement and asserted "ZERO tolerance for illegal immigration."
