Kate Middleton Family Guarded by Ex-Army Officer

Ever since Kate Middleton became engaged to Prince William last year, her parents and siblings have been seeking advice from an ex-Army officer as to how to keep their now high profile family safe.

Heyrick Bond Gunning, a former captain in the Grenadier Guards, has guarded the Middleton family, Kate’s parents, Michael and Carole, her brother James and, especially her equally popular sister Pippa on several different occasions.

Bond Gunning is the director of Salamanca, a “global risk consultancy,” security firm from which the Middletons have solicited advice in protecting their family.

Despite being related to the Duchess of Cambridge, who now has her own official police protection, the Middletons themselves do not.

“They aren’t guarded 24 hours a day or anything like that. But they are an ordinary family who have been thrust into an extraordinary situation and have needed help and advice,” a royal source told the Daily Mail.

Bond Gunning assisted the Middletons during Kate’s wedding to Prince William on April 29. He was spotted standing inconspicuously among the festivities in a morning suit and his Grenadier Guards tie.

He and his team, many of whom are also ex-soldiers, have continued to provide protection to the Middletons since then.

“We can’t talk about any clients by name,” Bond Gunning told the Daily Mail when asked about his association with the Middletons.

However, the Daily Mail noted that he does not deny being the man photographed with the Middletons on the day of the royal wedding.

The Salamanca firm also provides guard to other high profile people, families and organizations such as various FTSE 100 companies and Russian oligarchs, who pay thousands of dollars a day for expert military protection.
