Kevin Love to Opt Out? Rumored to Be Aiming for Los Angeles Lakers Next Season

The Cleveland Cavaliers are off to a slow start with their 2-3 record after beating the New Orleans Pelicans 118-111 and the Kevin Love rumors are at it again.

There have been rumors circulating during Love's stay at the Minnesota Timberwolves that the player has been eyeing a position with the Los Angeles Lakers. This is after president David Kahn refused to give Love a five-year maximum extension off of his rookie contract. Now, with the Cavaliers' slow start, the rumors have surfaced once more.

"It's not going to get as much discussion during the season, but one of the biggest issues for the Cavs is that both LeBron James asnd Kevin Love own opt outs after this season," Sam Smith of Bulls.com said.

"LeBron James basically cannot afford to go anywhere after his return to Cleveland. But what out for Love," he continued. "Indications are he will seriously consider the opt out and has his eyes on a return to Los Angeles, where he attended college and where the Lakers long have had him on their free agent wish list."

Love can decide not to opt out and stay with the Cavaliers, where he will be making $16.7 million for the 2015-16 season. However, if he does decide to opt out and sign a new deal, he'd likely be making some $18.5 million next year. Either way, he's going to make big dollars regardless of his decision but opting out would then give him a $1.8 million raise.
