Kim Kardashian Divorce: Friends, Public Speculate on What Went Wrong After Wedding

The recent news of reality television star Kim Kardashian filing for divorce from basketball star Kris Humphries after only 72 days of marriage has many asking what could have possibly caused Kardashian to call it quits so soon.

Friends of the star believe it was a combination of the couple having the constant pressure of cameras around them for the filming of Kardashian's well-known reality show, "Keeping Up With the Kardashians," along with the fact that the socialite simply was not ready to settle down yet.

"Kim didn't want to change her lifestyle once she was married, she carried on doing all of her personal appearances, and filming round the clock for 'Kourtney and Kim take New York,' " one source told The New York Post. "She and Kris didn't spend any time together as husband and wife, they even had cameras on the honeymoon. As soon as they came back, they went into filming the show in New York, and had no time to be alone. There were cameras on them 24/7."

People Magazine speculated that a variety of factors contributed to Humpries' split from Kardashian, including the fact that both rushed into the marriage quickly and had not given enough consideration into how to coordinate spending time together despite conflicting work schedules. The two were often spotted on numerous occasions alone.

The public was anything but shocked at the news of the divorce, with many taking to the Web to mock the socialite and the marriage that many speculated would never last. Yesterday, "#ThingsLongerThanKimsMarriage" was one of the top trending topics on Twitter, and remains so today. The hashtag "#kimkmarriagewasshorter" had also appeared in Twitter's Trend list Tuesday.

Kardashian's brother Rob, who is currently a contestant on ABC's "Dancing With the Stars," told E! news that the family will be supporting Kim throughout the ordeal.

"My sister is obviously going through a lot and we're obviously very supportive of whatever decision she makes," he said. "We're just here as her family just to be with her and be on her side for whatever."

Humphries, however, is reportedly not ready to call it quits just yet.

"I'm committed to this marriage and everything this covenant represents," he told Us Weekly in a statement. "I love my wife and am devastated to learn she filed for divorce. I'm willing to do whatever it takes to make it work."
