Kim Kardashian Divorce: Kris Humphries Caught Off-Guard

Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries are calling it quits just 72 days after their wedding and Humphries told his NBA pals he was "blindsided" by the divorce filing.

The NBA star wanted to save his marriage and was unaware that his wife was filing the divorce papers, according to TMZ.

The filing is a culmination of weeks of rumors about the couple's rocky marriage.

Kardashian confirmed the reports of her filing for divorce in a statement to E! News.

“After careful consideration, I have decided to end my marriage,” Kardashian said.

"I hope everyone understands this was not an easy decision. I had hoped this marriage was forever, but sometimes things don't work out as planned. We remain friends and wish each other the best,” she added.

TMZ reported that the divorce was a result over a dispute on where the couple would eventually settle down. Humphries wanted to ensconce it Minnesota, an idea that Kardashian wasn't too keen on.

Kardashian and Humphries were married in late August in one of the biggest celebrity events of the year.

The reality television star celebrated her marriage with 450 guests including singer Ciara, tennis star Serena Williams and actress Lindsay Lohan. Her sisters Kourtney and Khloe were bridesmaids at the event, which Khloe called perfect.

According to Kim’s stepfather who walked her down the aisle, Bruce Jenner, the event was more than just a wedding. It represented the union of the Humphries and Kardashians.

“Tonight is really about family – joining two families,” Jenner said.

However, since the news of the divorce, some have speculated that the marriage and multi-million dollar wedding was simply a publicity stunt.
