LA Clippers news: Jamal Crawford looking into being traded with NY Knicks' Jose Calderon

It seems that The Clippers is quite intent on making its roster stronger than ever this year. According to the Sports World Report, the LA-based team seems to be willing to trade in Jamal Crawford for a much-needed point guard. This latest news follows the official signing of Josh Smith and Paul Pierce in the off-season with The Clippers, alongside the addition of Wesley Johnson and Pablo Prigioni.

This trade would be the closest one to happening, as many of the generated trade interest toward Crawford earlier this summer all did not push through. NY Knicks was among the most recent teams to have "expressed interest" in a trade. The player that the NY Knicks would be willing to trade with Crawford would be Jose Calderon. The Knicks already has two main point guards, Jerian Grant and Langston Galloway, which explains why they think Calderon is expendable at this point, and this also fits in the need of the LA Clippers for a point guard.

Crawford may be looking forward to this trade as it can mean that his role may expand more. Playing for the Clippers is apparently no longer satisfying for Crawford, but the team's unwillingness to trade Crawford has left him with little choice. Furthermore, if traded with the Knicks, Crawford will play alongside other veterans, Carmelo Anthon and Derrick Williams, which would be a power move for the team. As for the Clippers, Calderon's skills will be an improvement for Chris Paul's backups.

Calderon is the only one the Knicks can move at this point; however, the player also hinted recently on his social media that the Timberwolves is also eyeing on him for a trade. One of the complications that this deal might make is Calderon's one more year with the Knicks. If the Clippers is truly interested in pushing this trade further into finalization, then it will more likely happen later in the season.

Another player that the Clippers is keen on bringing back is Glen Davis; however, with his current ankle surgery, only time can tell whether this is a possibility down the line.
