Laura Bush to Speak at Heritage Christian University Fundraiser
Former first lady Laura Bush will speak at a Heritage Christian University largest annual fundraiser later this month.
The Heritage Event, which will also feature a performance by actor and singer John Schneider, will be held on Aug. 28 at the Marriott Shoals Hotel and Spa.
According to University President Dennis Jones, the object of the event is to raise money for scholarships at the small, Church of Christ-sponsored school that provides training for future Bible teachers, preachers and missionaries.
Jones says the former first lady will talk about life in the White House and will take questions.
The ticket price for the event is $1,000. Organizers are hoping the event will generate $250,000.
