'Law & Order: SVU' Season 16 Crossover Episode Continues With an Unsolved Rape and Murder Case
Things are definitely getting more exciting and interesting as the 16th Season of the hit police procedural TV drama series "Law & Order: SVU" continues with yet another mind-blowing crossover episode with its sister shows, "Chicago PD," and "Chicago Fire."
A synopsis for the brand new segment titled "Daydream Believer" was posted on The Futon Critic and it indicates that Chicago and New York Police force continue with their investigation of an unsolved rape and murder case.
The SVU team, led by Benson (Mariska Hargitay), and Voight's (Jason Beghe) CPD group, will tackle on a chilling case which is "frighteningly similar to a case from New York a decade ago."
Setting their eyes on the prize, both law enforcement teams will join efforts to pursue Yates (guest star Dallas Roberts) who CPD was forced to release back in Windy City.
Executive producer Warren Leight previously told E! Online (via Design & Trend) their plans on creating a villain that they could use for a crossover.
"Here at SVU we've been kicking an idea around for a long time about a serial rapist/murderer who in the mode of a Ted Bundy kind of guy — incredibly charming, incredibly manipulative, able to get away with these crimes for a very, very long time across multiple jurisdictions," Leight explained.
"And when the idea of a crossover came up, Dick [Wolf] suggested I donate that idea to the crossover. It was going to be a two-parter for us. Then it became instead, I think, a good template ... we knew we had enough for two episodes whether they were two SVU episodes or as it turned out, this crossover," the showrunner said.
"Law & Order: SVU" Season 16 airs Wednesdays, at 10 p.m. on NBC.
