'Legends of Tomorrow' Season 3 Spoilers, Synopsis: The Superheroes Ditch Their Vacation to Save the World

"The Legends of Tomorrow" will go up against Julius Caesar and his horde of gladiators when The CW-DC show returns for its third season.

As revealed in the synopsis of episode 1 of "The Legends of Tomorrow" season 3, titled "Aruba-Con," the members who have been relived from crime fighting by Rip Hunter (Arthur Darvill) because of last season's timeline fiasco will band together when Mick (Dominic Purcell) finds Julius Caesar (Simon Merrells) in Aruba. In order to stop this pervasive threat to humanity, the Legends, particularly Sara (Caity Lotz), Nate (Nick Zano), and Ray (Brandon Routh) will devise a plan to stop Caesar.

A trailer for the next installment reveals Mick catching some rays in sunny Aruba when he is approached by a gladiator riding on horseback. The man comes up to him and introduces himself as "Julius Caesar."

In a previous interview about the upcoming season, executive producer Phil Klemmer revealed that Mick is the first of the Legends to realize how futile Rip Hunter and his Time Bureau efforts are at keeping the peace.

"He's the first Legend who realizes that the Time Bureau, for all their professionalism and competency, that there is one anachronism that they have missed," Klemmer told DC Legends TV. "And for Mick, it's just like 'Aw, seriously? Do I have to? I could spend another six months on this beach, just getting tanned and drunk.'"

According to the exec, this anachronism will be pivotal to the Legends' comeback. It is how they justify their existence, proving the Time Bureau that the world still needs them.

Apart from guest star Merrells, "Aruba-Con" will feature Victor Garber, Maisie Richardson-Sellers, and Franz Drameh.

The episode was helmed by Rob Seidenglanz and penned by Phil Klemmer and Marc Guggenheim.

"The Legends of Tomorrow" season 3 episode 1, titled "Aruba-Con," premieres Tuesday, Oct. 10, at 9 p.m. ET on The CW.
