LG G Flex 2 vs Huawei Ascend Mate 7: Comparison of Specs, Features

The LG G Flex 2 has sparked a lot of interest since the device has been released at CES 2015. With its curved body designed to bend and flex, big screen with improved resolution, and internal memory which can be expanded to a whopping 2TB, it certainly is a work of art and a welcome development to the tech market.

Meanwhile, Huawei's 2014 device, the Ascend Mate 7, still continues to impress with its large screen and premium feel. How will it hold its own against the newer, more bendable G Flex 2?

Design:
The G Flex 2 can withstand a degree of pushing and prodding. Whether it's facing up or down, pushing down on the phone will cause it to flatten, but releasing it will cause it to spring back to its curved shape in a matter of seconds. The phone measures 5.9 x 3 x 0.4 inches and weighs 5.4 ounces. It comes with a "self-healing" coat, which means scratches and scuffs will be a thing of the past in roughly about 10 seconds. It comes in Flamenco Red and Platinum Silver.

Meanwhile, the Ascend Mate 7 has a premium feel with its all metal body. It's bigger and chunkier than the G Flex 2—it measures 6.18 x 3.19 x 0.31 inches and weighs 6.53 ounces. It's available in silver, dark grey, and light gold.

Features:
Both phones run on Android, but the LG phone has the latest Android 5.0 Lollipop while the Huawei device runs on Android 4.4 with Emotion 3.0 UI.

The Mate 7 has the advantage when it comes to screen size. It has a 6-inch screen with a resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels, while the G Flex 2 has a 5.5-inch display with the same resolution.

Both phones come with a 13MP rear camera, but the Mate 7 has a better front facing camera. The Huawei device has a 5MP front shooter, while the LG handset has a 2.1MP front camera.

The Mate 7 is powered by a HiSilicon Kirin 925 octa-core processor, while the G Flex 2 has the Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 octa-core chipset.

The G Flex 2 comes in two storage options, 16GB and 32GB, and the device can be expanded up to 2TB with a microSD card, while the Mate 7 comes with 32GB internal storage which can be expanded up to 128GB.

Price:
Off contract, the LG G Flex 2 costs $699.60, while the Ascend Mate 7 costs $600.
