Lindsay Lohan Playboy Shoot Boosts Sales

Lindsay Lohan's latest stint in Playboy magazine has received a favorable response, with fans said to be flocking to newsstands.

According to TMZ, sales are up and newsstands are selling out nationwide despite contrary reports earlier this week.

Fox News' Jo Piazza wrote, "Amidst the holiday melee, shoppers aren’t rushing to pick up their copy of the much-talked about Lindsay Lohan issue of Playboy this week."

Sources disagree with Piazza, insisting Lohan's appearance has resulted in a significant increase in subscriptions to iPlayboy.com.

"The Lindsay Lohan January-February Double Issue is breaking sales records," Playboy owner Hugh Hefner tweeted

The 24-year-old actress channeled Marilyn Monroe as she bared all wearing only blond hair extensions and a face full of makeup. Pictures from the shoot were allegedly leaked, forcing Playboy to release their January/February issue earlier than anticipated.

Lohan received major criticism for the nude shots, with critics saying her shots were heavily air brushed.

The news followed a report that Hefner is moving the company from Chicago to Los Angeles. Hefner has not responded to questions about whether the company is downsizing, but Playboy spokeswoman Theresa Hennessey confirmed the company is relocating.

"As of May 2012, Playboy magazine's editorial, art and photo departments will be based out of the company's Los Angeles office," Hennessey said in a statement.

"Some of the magazine's Chicago employees have been asked to relocate, while others have been asked to stay on in Chicago to ensure a seamless transition," she added.

Lohan is believed to have received $1 million for the pornographic shoot.
