Lorenzo Sewell, senior pastor of 180 Church in Detroit, Michigan, who delivered a standout prayer during President Donald Trump's second inauguration, rallied Republicans again Wednesday night at the party’s first-ever midterm convention with a quick sermon he called “Enough is Enough.”

Speaking at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas, Sewell quickly leaned into his message, reminding patriotic Christians that the upcoming mid-term elections in November are about spiritual warfare.

“How many know that we are saying today, not today, Satan? You will not steal our country. You will not have our children. You will not have our families; enough is enough! I know I got somebody in this room that believes in the King of Glory, the one who is strong and mighty, the one who is mighty in battle,” he declared, alluding to Scriptures like Psalm 24 and Acts 4:12.

“He's got the only name given among men whereby we must be saved, and that’s the name of Jesus,” he said. “If you believe in that name, put your hands back on and give your great God great glory! … Look at somebody and say 'enough is enough, enough is enough.' Devil, you won't have the land where my fathers died.”

Sewell, whose appearance at the podium lasted about 2.5 minutes, rounded out his patriotic sermon encouraging Republicans to “fight, fight, fight for the soul of a nation.”

“Devil, you won't have the land of the pilgrims' pride, from every mountainside. We believe that freedom will ring,” he said as he asked the audience if they were proud to be Americans and elicited approving shouts.

“For at least I know that I'm free. And I thank God for the men and the women that died that gave that right to me,” he declared. “I'm gonna stand up and fight! Fight, fight for the soul of a nation,” he said.

The idea for the midterm convention, which is being held Sept. 9-10, was first proposed by President Trump in a social media post over the summer. The Republican National Committee later adopted and organized the idea.
