Man Tries to Have 11-Year-Old Daughter Raped, Beaten; Arrested in Police Sting

St. Louis Police managed to prevent the rape and beating of an 11-year-old girl who was set-up by her father, Anthony Brinkman. Police have charged Brinkman with attempted statutory sodomy and he remains jailed on a $100,000 cash-only bond.

According to reports, Brinkman posted an ad online asking for someone to beat and rape his 11-year-old daughter while he watched. An undercover officer saw the ad and responded to it, hoping to lure Brinkman to a location where he could be arrested. Brinkman fell for the trap and agreed to meet the officer at a specific location.

"It's just a lot of talk for most of these guys," Detective Mike Slaughter told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, "but this guy actually brought the girl to the scene to go ahead with the next step of enacting it. If we hadn't gotten involved and someone bad had gotten in touch with him, something bad would have happened to that little girl. From the time he posted that ad to the time we arrested him was less than 48 hours."

Brinkman admitted to the set-up and apologized for his actions, Slaughter said. Yet police didn't buy his apology and plan to continue investigating Brinkman's home and computer to see if he had any connections in the world of sex trafficking. Prosecutors said that they will bring charges of sex trafficking against Brinkman whether or not there is further evidence on the computers; Brinkman allegedly told police that he may have owned child pornography at the time of his arrest.

Relatives have taken custody of the girl, whom police do not believe has been abused. They are following up with her, though, to make sure she is okay.

"He said he was sorry and that he was stupid," Slaughter said, "but you don't let it go that far if you don't have intentions."
