Marc Anthony Says 'Affair Laughable,' But is He Hiding Something?

Marc Anthony has shared his side of the story pertaining to his split from Jennifer Lopez, and says the divorce is not over anything “sensationalistic.”

ABC News correspondent John Quinones spoke with Anthony during an exclusive “Nightline” interview Thursday, where the Spanish singer also shot down rumors surrounding his divorce.

Although he said he could not pinpoint “what went wrong,” Anthony told Quinones that no one in particular was to blame for the split.

Anthony also adamantly denied being unfaithful to Lopez, as well as the media’s speculation that he had a relationship with Jada Pinkett Smith.

“When something like that happens, it’s laughable. We were laughing, like ‘wow,’” said Anthony about his HawthoRNe costar. “We’ve been friends for years. Jada, Jennifer, me, him, for years…”

Rumors about Will and Jada Smith’s marriage have been splashed on tabloids of late, and despite Anthony’s rebuttal, he says that he is worried about what the poisonous gossip could do.

“What bothers me is the effect it has on family, to Will and Jada’s, and their children, and their relatives, their loves ones,” said Anthony on Nightline.

Lopez and Anthony’s seven-year relationship ended because it simply no longer “worked,” said the singer, and “absolutely not” because either party had been involved in an affair.

“It was a realization on both our parts. So, you know, it wasn’t shocking. These things happen,” Anthony said. “It was a decision we made jointly.”

“This is not a funeral. This is not a burial,” Anthony said about his divorce. “This is just two people who came together and just realized- and so I’m saying that it wasn’t sustainable the way it was, and that’s that.”

Anthony explained his marriage as running its course, but a close friend of Lopez’s told E! News something very different.

“’These things happen’?” Gasped the insider, quoting Anthony. “Is he on crack?”

The source close to Lopez claims that Anthony has a sometimes maniacal obsession with control, and E! News reported that Anthony’s rep declined to comment on the assertion.
