Maria Sharapova New Haircut Only a Wig? (PHOTOS)
Maria Sharapova started an Internet frenzy on Monday after she posted a picture of herself on Facebook with a new short hairdo. After fan outcry however, the tennis star admitted that the new look was only a wig.
Almost 10,000 fans on Facebook commented on a photo that Sharapova posted Monday, depicting the usually long-locked blonde with short hair. Although a frenzy may have begun, the feedback didn't seem all too bad.
"So beautiful.In fact you really needed this change .....wow," Amino Beco wrote on the tennis pro's wall.

"Absolutely right, you look Gorgeous, no doubt," Greg hints added.
"So what do you guys think?? I kind of love it!" Sharapova wrote after posting the photo. Although some did love it, others appeared to be at an utter loss.
"I am in shock! It's too short!" Singaporean fan Keith Chern commented.
"You've become completely different, also interesting, but I liked you better with the long hair!" Kseniya Maksimenko said.
Sharapova has 6.9 million likes on her Facebook page and it was hard to detect where her fans stood overall in regards to the new cut. That likely won't matter now however, because Sharapova later revealed that she was apparently just kidding.
Sharapova's picture of her new do was actually the tennis player showing off a new wig. The star felt compelled to confess the truth after she claimed that her inbox exploded with messages. The message read:
"Wow, when I posted those photos with the short hair I had no idea everyone would all go bananza....( my dear friends, I never actually said I cut my hair!) so for the sake of my email inbox and it's stressful 24 hours, I would like to show you the below pictures...my hair is still long...and blonde...and well it's pretty much the same! We did a shoot a few days ago and I sported all types of hair styles...long and yes short (a wig!!!)."
All the same, if the tennis star was curious enough to ask fans what they thought of her with short hair, she may just be itching for a change.
