Microsoft Lumia 640 XL Makes Its Way to Canada

The Microsoft Lumia 640 XL has just hit Canadian brick and mortar sellers where it retails for $272.

The Lumia 640 XL, Microsoft's mid-range phone unveiled at the Mobile World Congress in March, is now available for Canadian users in the white variant retailing at $272.

The Windows 10-ready phone hasn't been available online at the Microsoft Store, but has been released in India and the UK, together with the Microsoft Lumia 640 only last April.

The Lumia 640 XL is contained in a 5.7-inch frame with a 720 x 1280 resolution 259ppi pixel density display featuring ClearBlack technology. Running on Snapdragon 400 SoC, it is powered by a quad core 1.2 GHz CPU and an Adreno 305 GPU.

The phone's IPS LCD screen has a protective layer of Gorilla 3 Glass, and features Lumia Glance, which keeps the time and notification information on the phone's screen even if the display is turned off.

The handset has 1GB of RAM and 8GB internal storage with a microSD slot that can upgrade internal capacity to 128GB.

The budget-friendly phone offers LTE support, proximity and ambient light sensors, a digital compass, and SensorCore technology that allows it to function as a pedometer.

The phone has a 13MP rear facing camera with an f/2.0 aperture for low light photography, an autofocus lens, and a LED flash. It has a 5MP front facing shooter and supports 1080p video. At its back end, the device runs on a 3000mAh battery.

The phone will follow the style of Microsoft's other Lumia handset, with black fronts and on-screen buttons, as well as a removable polycarbonate shells. In Canada's case, only the white variant will be available.

According to Phone Arena, the Lumia 640 XL will soon be carried by AT&T, however, no set date has been revealed as to when the carrier will start selling the handsets.
