Miley Cyrus Talks Liam Hemsworth Split on 'Ellen' Show: 'I'm Happy' (VIDEO)

Miley Cyrus recently opened up about her split from Liam Hemsworth on the "Ellen" show and the singer revealed that she is "genuinely happy."

In September, reps for Cyrus, 20, and Hemsworth, 23, confirmed that the pair had called off their engagement and split after four years. The "Wrecking Ball" singer told talk show host Ellen DeGeneres that she wants fans to focus on her music and not her personal life.

"I think people spend more time actually thinking about it than I really do. I just believe when a chapter is done, you have to close it and start that new one. That's kind of where I am right now," Cyrus told DeGeneres about her split from Hemsworth according to People.com.

"I felt like people have really focused on my music right now when I've needed them to … that's the only thing I worried about," she continued. "I didn't want it to make me sacrifice what I've been working for, for just the attention to be on [my breakup]."

In February the former Disney star and Hemsworth were rocked with cheating rumors after it was claimed that the "Hunger Games" actor had been caught with actress January Jones, 35. While the rumors were never publicly addressed, the former Disney star was photographed without her engagement ring on various occasions shortly after the rumors surfaced, which immediately raised doubts about her engagement.

Despite her heartache, Cyrus insisted that she is happy and focused on work following her split from the Australian actor.

"I want to be really clear and determined with everything I'm doing in my life right now ... I am genuinely happy, finally with myself," she said.

"I think it takes you separating yourself from someone else to really be happy with who you are," she explained.

Cyrus and Hemsworth began dating in 2009 after meeting on the set of the drama romance film "The Last Song." The pop star revealed that she is focused on staying single for the time being.

"I've never just been able to be alone, and I'm obsessed with being alone and hearing my thoughts … I'm trying to take this alone time – the five minutes I do have a day – to learn as much as I can," she said.
