Mindy Kaling Baby Due Date News: TV Star Expecting First Child, Admits to Being 'So Anxious'
Following the news about Mindy Kaling's pregnancy and the revelation of her child's gender by her peers, "The Mindy Project" actress shares what it's like to be expecting for the first time and what she would want to be as a mom.
In a recent interview with Willie Geist of Sunday TODAY, the television personality confirmed that she is indeed expecting her first baby, and shared how her journey to motherhood has been so far.
"Right now, I just feel so anxious," she admitted and added that she would like to be a "fun" and "dorky" mom to her child.
Kaling also joked about finally being able to criticize other parents' ways of parenting by the time she has her own child because she will have the right to.
More importantly, she expressed that her relationship with her mother, Swati Roysircar, who passed away back in 2012 after suffering pancreatic cancer, is one that she would also like to have with her own child.
"My mom was incredibly fierce and so devoted to us, just loved us and really wanted us to be happy no matter what we did," Kaling said. "My career choice was not something that she was familiar with and she was just so supportive of that. And if I could give that to my child, just that open-mindedness, I'd be so happy," she went on to say.
Earlier this month, Us Weekly reported that the 36-year-old comedic actress is having a baby girl. It was her co-stars on "The Mindy Project" who revealed this to the news outlet during the PaleyFest Fall TV Preview event for their show.
Expressing his excitement over the matter, Ed Weeks, who plays Dr. Jeremy Reed, said, "The show started as a tribute to her mother, who very sadly passed away just as the show is being picked up, and it ends with her having a daughter of her own."
Beth Grant, who plays Beverly Janoszewski, also said that she was thrilled about the baby news and that she thinks Kaling is ready to become a mother.
As of now, there is no word on her due date.
The final season of "The Mindy Project" has finished production and is currently streaming on Hulu.
