Motorola X Phone Release Date Set for Aug. 26 on U.S. Cellular

The Motorola X phone release date has been leaked for U.S. Cellular.

The carrier will launch the new device on Aug. 26, according to a leaked document obtained by the site Android Central. It reveals the "Motorola X launch kit" for the carrier that will arrive a day before the actual release.

The words "wave 1, 2 & 3" can also be found in the document and could refer to the different shipments of the device. It also shows that LTE markets will receive the smartphone first with non-LTE markets to follow. Pricing details are not mentioned.

An August launch for the device was also hinted at by Leo Laporte who appeared on Twit's "This Week in Google" program earlier this week.

Laporte also attended Motorola's recent media event where the new device was believed to have made an appearance and spoke about it while on the show.

He told one of the host's that she could safely return her HTC One Google Play edition she recently purchased in order to buy the Moto X. Laporte was under the impression she had 30 days to do so, which pointed to the Motorola device being available before that amount of time was up.

She eventually informed him that she only has 15 days to return the device, which he said could be problematic as she might be left without a phone for a bit.

Laporte touches on some aspects of the Moto X in the program stating that from certain points of view, the HTC One may have certain features that can't be found on the Motorola device. He did not confirm any official release dates for the smartphone.
