NASCAR Driver Kasey Kahne Disgusted by Breastfeeding: Apology Not Enough

NASCAR Driver Kasey Kahne has apologized Wednesday, after posting negative comments on his Twitter account about breastfeeding.

After witnessing a mother breastfeed her child in a supermarket, Kahne posted to his Twitter account that it was “nasty.” He also said that he no longer had the desire to eat or shop afterwards.

Initially Kahne was not very nice when others began to disagree with his comments. Reports say that he responded back to one message with a crude reply.

However Kahne later apologized and said, “I understand that my comments regarding breastfeeding posted on Twitter were offensive to some people. For that, I apologize.”

“In all honestly, I was surprised by what I saw in a grocery store. I shared that reaction with my fans on Twitter…

My comments were not directed at the mother’s right to breastfeed. They were just a reaction to the location of that choice, and the fashion in which it was executed on that occasion,” he said.

But some of his fans on Facebook still weren’t quite satisfied. “It amazes me how many people are so ‘grossed out’ by breast feeding. People really need to mind their own business when out in public!” Priscilla Tamayo responded on Facebook.

Others persisted to call him names and suggest he was very uninformed to not understand what a delicate issue it would be.

Kahne admitted that expressing his opinion on Twitter was not the correct response to his reaction and finished his apology saying, “I respect the mother’s right to feed her child whenever and wherever she pleases.”

Kasey Kahne is a NASCAR driver and member of the Red Bull Racing Team. In November he won the Kobalt Tools 500 at Phoenix International Raceway. He also has his on racing team, Kasey Kahnee Racing.
