Natalie Grant Reveals New Hit Song 'Clean' Inspired by Friend's Abuse

If you've ever seen Grant live in concert, it is evident that she believes everything she is singing, and although Be One is her ninth album, her passion has not died down over the years. She said it is her approach to what she does that maintains her sincerity.

"I can't tell you that I'm always on fire for the Lord everyday and that I never have doubts or struggles. I do. I have so many and I think that my transparency with my struggles is one of the things that helps me connect with my audience," she said. "But the thing that keeps the fire in my music and passion in my heart to do what I do is – I actually have a healthy fear of the Lord."

"I know that He actually can take the gift from me and I know that He gave me the gift specifically to use it to build His name and His kingdom. I know that if i'm not responsible enough with it, I actually fear Him enough to believe that He can take it from me," she shared.

Secondly the successful artist stays passionate about her craft because she remembers when music was just a dream. She painted the picture of when she was just a child singing into her hairbrush to her stuffed animals, but now the hairbrush has turned into a real microphone and there is a real-life audience.

"God doesn't need me to do this, He chose me to do His work," she said, while advising others to always keep that perspective with everything they do in life.

Grant admitted that she had a season in her life when she tried to be the "perfect Christian," but said it was false and now she enjoys being honest and open with her followers. The minute she had the courage to be herself, she said she found an unbreakable bond with her audience.

"If you could be perfect then you wouldn't need Christ, those two thing don't even go together," she stated. "The last thing the world needs is another singer, or another song. They're desperate for authenticity and people who are real about their faith in Jesus. To be real about your faith, I think you need to be honest about your struggle."

Social Media has been a major help in allowing the busy worship leader to connect with her supporters. She has purposed herself to use it as a way to connect with people and show them who Jesus is. She calls her followers her brothers and sisters in Christ rather than fans.

Her three daughters with husband, famous Canadian producer Bernie Herms, are also regularly seen on social media worshipping God, and are active in church and enjoying life.

When it comes to parenting, Grant admits she is no expert but did offer some practical advice.

"You can be the one that changes the future generations that come after you. Live your faith out loud. Don't just take your kids to church and expect the church to do the job of raising your kids in Christ. Church is just suppose to be an extension of what they are already learning in their home," she said.

She offered further tips by saying that christianity should not only be about the performance.

"I want my kids to just see me and my husband living life with the Lord. In touch with Jesus, praying, worshiping the Lord not just in church. If you live it even more than you speak it the kids will learn because they'll never know anything different," she concluded.

The Nashville resident is overwhelmed by the response she has received from Be One but believes that the positive response speaks to people's desperation for hope during these troubled times.
