NCC to Host World's Top Ecumenical Leaders in DC, NY
Ecumenical Christians representing Asia, Africa, Europe, North America, Latin America, and the Middle East will gather in Washington, next month to discuss poverty, development, and security.
Ecumenical Christians representing Asia, Africa, Europe, North America, the Caribbean, Latin America, the Middle East and the Pacific will be gathering in Washington, D.C., next month to discuss issues on poverty, development and security.
The National Council of Churches of Christ in the USA (NCCCUSA) will be hosting the annual gathering of the general secretaries from the nine regional ecumenical councils and the WCC.
While specifics for the meeting are still “very fluid,” according to a press secretary from the NCC, the date and venue are set for Friday, Sept. 23, at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C. The press conference will cover a wide array of topics ranging from the Ecumenical Alliance for Development as well as poverty and responses to security concerns.
Following the Washington gathering, the leaders will travel to New York, and on Saturday will continue discussions on the “current global situation,” according to a press release.
