The Yankees meanwhile have struggled offensively all postseason, but if they are to come good they will have to start now. They must perform one of the great comebacks in MLB history to overturn this three game deficit, and if they are to do that then some of their big names must step up.

With everything on the line the Yankees will look to C.C. Sabathia to lead them to victory tonight. Their best pitcher will be sent to the mound looking to blunt the Tigers' offense and give the New York hitters a chance to shine.

If anyone can quieten the Tigers it is Sabathia - in this 2012 postseason he so far has two wins and 17.2 innings pitched out of a possible 18. He has 16 strikeouts as well as a 1.53 earned run average.

Meanwhile the Tigers will be looking to book their tickets for the World Series by sending in veteran right-hander Max Scherzer. He has only started once this postseason so far, departing after 5. innings with a no-decision. Scherzer let in no earned runs, and recorded eight strikeouts, allowing just three hits.

The Yankees will be looking to force maximum pitches out of Scherzer early on to try and force the bullpen, which has looked a lot more shaky for the Tigers than their starting pitchers.
