Nexus 4 Availability Issues Attributed to High Demand

The recent LG Nexus 4 availability issues have been attributed to high demand by LG's head of mobile Andy Coughlin.

He explained to CNET in a recent interview that the smartphone "had proven extremely popular, and as such retailers have been met with huge demand." Coughlin also stated that LG is "working closely with Google to ensure that those who wish to purchase a handset are able to do so."

"As with any sales process, LG supplies product quantities against partners/customers' (ie retailers, operators etc) forecasts," said Coughlin. "Demand via the Play Store has been very high in this instance."

The LG Nexus 4 quickly sold out at all retailers after its mid-Nov. launch in the U.S. Similar instances happened during the device's rollout in Canada and other countries. Google resumed the sale of the handset earlier this week in those same countries.

Many device orders for the Nexus 4 are now saying that it will ship in 6-7 weeks from now.

The LG Nexus 4 launched on Sprint and AT&T last month and features some impressive specs.

The handset also comes with Android 4.2, JellyBean pre-installed which is also the latest build of Android software.
