Nexus 5 Price Set for Just $41.99 Up Front for T-Mobile Customers

The Nexus 5 price is set for just $41.99 up front for people looking to purchase the device on T-Mobile.

The carrier kicked off the sale of the Google smartphone earlier this week. The full retail price is $449.99 which is $100 more than the Google Play store is charging. Customers will only need to shell out $41.99 right away and will be able to pay the rest of it off in monthly payments which will be 24 installments of $17 each.

T-Mobile revealed that is not charging any more than Google is charging them indicating that the company has discounted the device by $100 in their Play store. It is currently offering the 16GB model. Those looking for the 32GB version could purchase it directly through Google.

Customers who buy the device in the Google Play store can obtain a SIM card from one of the major carriers to activate it.

Google launched the Nexus 5 earlier this month.

Specifications on the device include a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 MSM8974 processor running at up to 2.3GHz, a 4.96-inch LCD 1080p display, 2GB RAM, Adreno 330 GPU, 16 or 32GB internal memory, a 2300 mAh battery and an 8-megapixel camera with Optical Image Stabilization.

The Nexus 5 is one of the first devices to run Google's latest Android 4.4 KitKat operating system.

"For KitKat, we partnered with LG to develop Nexus 5- the slimmest and fastest Nexus phone ever made," wrote Google in the press release. "Its design is simple and refined to showcase the 5 Full HD display."

The Nexus is available in the Google Play store. The 16GB version sells for $349 and the 32GB model retails at $399. It can be purchased in both black and white.
