Peyton Manning: Vegas Bets on Where the QB Will Play

Peyton Manning is the talk of the town.

But it's just not Indianapolis that's abuzz with rumors of his departure from the Colts - it's also Las Vegas.

Book makers have put out the odds of Manning joining several teams, including the Washington Redskins, Arizona Cardinals, Miami Dolphins and New York Jets.

Though it isn't official that Manning won't return to the Colts next season, it is fairly likely that the team is going to chose to rebuild with a new arm in the quarterback slot.

So in the city where Elvis impersonators perform wedding ceremonies and casinos rule the roost, fans from Phoenix and Miami might have something to cheer about.

Odds makers put Manning heading to the Cardinals at 2-to-1 odds. They have it at a 3-to-1 chance he'll be scooped up by the Dolphins.

The odds he'll go to the Redskins are 5-to-2. And it's 7-to-2 odds he'll wind up in New York playing for the Jets.

Despite the odds, all four teams may be hoping the bets roll in their favors.

The Jets and Cardinals both finished the 2011 season 8-8. The Dolphins were 6-10 and the Redskins were 5-11.

Those stats are all projected to increase significantly with Manning in the pocket.

Odds makers project the Jets could end the 2012 season at 12-4. The Cardinals and Dolphins are both projected to finish at 11-5, while the Redskins would improve to 9-7.

While Manning may be a highly sought after quarterback, it likely won't be an easy transition if he leaves the Colts.

Some quarterbacks are so rooted in their communities, they can't possibly fill the same role in another city. Jim Kelly will always remain a Buffalo Bill, while Dan Marino will always be a Miami Dolphin.

Players have switched teams, though, but have not enjoyed the same success or fan support.

Brett Favre made the move away from the Green Bay Packers and joined the Jets, then divisional rival Minnesota Vikings.

Neither move garnered the quarterback much support from fans, despite some encouraging seasons.

It is unclear what move Manning will make. But speculation is likely to continue until he is set with a team.
