Massive Anti-Planned Parenthood Protests Nationwide Include Inspiring Stories of Women Who Chose Life

The lead organizer at the Raleigh, North Carolina, location said this was her second protest. In an interview with CP before the rally, Georgia Rivera explained why she became involved in protesting Planned Parenthood.

"I always believed in life. I've always believed all life matters, Rivera declared. "I was never really an activist. I had a friend come up to me five or six years ago who was pregnant, who was single, and the dad was immature.

"And so I said to her there are different resources and a lot of resources in the community to help her."

Rivera told CP that the young woman was on her way to Planned Parenthood but she convinced her she is not alone in her dilemma.

"She kept the baby. I almost delivered the baby. It was born in an ambulance," said Rivera.

I helped to save the child's life and helped bring her into the world," she added.

Rivera said she had to use crisis pregnancy resources when she herself was nineteen, pregnant, and "scared," explaining she "did not know what to do."

"They even followed up with me for years. They didn't give me a handout but they really helped me a lot," said Rivera.

She said crisis pregnancy counseling helped bring her and the father of her child together through counseling and they have now been married for 20 years. Rivera went back to school to become a psychologist to get more involved with pro-life work and pregnancy resources.

"I realized I wanted to change my career. I wanted to become a psychologist," Rivera declared.

She said her goal for the rally against Planned Parenthood and her work "is to touch another person in the same way I was touched."

Rivera said when she heard about the new protest on Saturday, "I asked what I could do and they said they needed me to lead it."
