Prayer Guide for the Baptist Centenary Congress

The Baptist World Alliance, the world’s largest fellowship of Baptist churches, is celebrating its 100th year anniversary this week with a festive Centenary Congress in Birmingham, England.

Over 10,000 Baptists representing over 100 nations are expected to attend, and the BWA announced a day-by-day prayer guide for the “world family” preparing for the largest Congress in the Alliance’s history,

The prayer guide suggests for Baptists to pray on Monday for “your country’s special needs and concerns” and for the “International planning committees for Congress.” On Tuesday, they urge prayers for the “Baptist World Alliance leadership and committees” and the “Congress Worship leaders.”

For Wednesday, which marks the official launch of the celebration, the BWA urged prayers for “Congress Speakers” and “Your church leadership and needs.” On Thursday, they say, pray for “family, friends and intercessory concerns” and “Congress Focus Group leaders.” For Friday they called for fasting – either the entire or part of the day. For Saturday, they urged prayers for “Confession, personal concerns,” and for the “Baptist World Alliance funding concerns.” Sunday, they called for “Adoration and Praise.”
