Pro-Life 'Bella' Actor to Open Women's Clinic

Pro-life Mexican actor Eduardo Verástegui, the star of the "Bella," officially announced his plans to build the largest clinic for women in the United States.

Earlier this month, he made the announcement at a gala hosted by Mantle of Guadalupe, his international aid organization. He told the 300 guests, "I will not use my talents except to elevate my Christian, pro-life and Hispanic values."

Some of the notable guests also included San Diego Chargers Quarterback Phillip Rivers and actor Sean Astin ("Lord of the Rings").

During the gala he introduced some of the survivors of abortion clinics, including motivational speaker Nick Vujicic, an Australian native born without arms and legs. Vujicic also announced the launch of a pro-life community website, where people can "come to celebrate the unique abilities that God has placed in each and every individual."

Verástegui is a devout Catholic who has been a spokesman for pro-life activism for years. In 2009, he spoke about his dream to open up a pro-life medical center in the middle of abortion clinics in Los Angeles.

His organization, Mantle of Guadalupe Center, is now located in Beverly Hills, in a one-mile radius of ten abortion clinics. It provides free medical care to women as well as pre-natal care, ultrasounds and family planning education.

The organization also builds homes, delivers food and medicine and provides assistance to pregnant women with a low socioeconomic status. It calls itself "an oasis of life in the midst of a desert of death."

Verástegui is set to continue speaking against abortions. He will attend the annual March for Life in Washington D.C. on Monday alongside award-winning Christian recording band BarlowGirl.
