PS4 to Launch with Full Twitch Compatibility for Seamless Game Footage Uploading and Sharing

The PS4 will be working hand-in-hand with social media gaming site, Twitch, as users will have the ability to stream and share virtually anything they do on the console.

The feature will be available at launch and will work seamlessly with the PS4's live game recording so a user would be able to show their friends and family what and how they are playing reports the Washington Post.

Twitch has been growing in popularity over the last few months and currently boasts more than 600,000 users uploading and sharing their unique broadcasting style. Their unique viewers numbers jumped from 3.5 million a month to 35 million reports the Washington Post.

"The ability has never been as available," Matt DiPietro, the head of Twitch's marketing said regarding the ease of simply sharing gameplay, said. "It was more a really hard-core activity. Now that it's going to be on the two major consoles in the market, it has the potential to just explode."

The site has also grown and adapted to make itself more compatible with gamers.

"There was a problem where if I was going to sit down and play for an hour and a half, there's just a 90 minute block of video to watch. Now instead of a chunk of video file - where we had no information except maybe what game they were playing - we now have very detailed information," said Brooke Van Dusen, a development team member for Twitch to the Washington Post. "[We are] working with game developers to make the broadcasting experience better - particularly the post-live experience."

DiPietro said Twitch recently released a special developers kit for users looking to build more and enrich certain features of their pages.

"[Twitch is] now designing games to be watched as a spectator; they're designing it to be more broadcasting-friendly," said DiPietro. "An analogy I like to use is to remember what the Web was like before Facebook and the Facebook button. Our ambition is to be that for games."

Twitch will be available to Xbox One users as well.
