Rachael Leigh Cook Baby Girl Arrives

Rachael Leigh Cook and her husband Daniel Gillies welcomed their first child, a baby girl over the weekend.

"It's a girl," Gillies posted to Twitter on Sunday, Sept. 29. "The tiny new empress of my everything. She's immaculate. We're delirious."

Cook nor her husband have revealed the name of their child yet, and Gillies was forced to disconfirm false reports about the child's arrival on Friday.

"beautiful people: baby has not arrived. Yet," he wrote on Twitter. "Please disregard the gossip+misinformation. We'll keep you posted. Xx love d+r+?"

The new parents first announced their pregnancy back in May when Cook admitted that she was struggling to conceal her baby bump while filming TNT's "Perception."

"I've been hiding my rapidly growing bump while shooting but this kiddo is vying for screen time," said the 33-year-old, according to Us Weekly. "We clearly have a future actor on our hands."

Cook, who married her actor husband in 2004, portrays special agent Kate Moretti on "Perception." The crime drama is currently in its second season.

Alternately, Gillies also chimed in on the baby at the time.

"A lot of people are asking whether I'd prefer a boy or a girl," said "The Vampire Diaries" star, according to Us magazine. "In truth, it doesn't matter to me- I just can't wait to meet little Keanu Robocop," he joked.

The new parents are also at work together on Showtime's "Broken Kingdom. Gillies, who directed and produced the drama, also stars in it opposite his wife. Actors Darren le Gallo and Seymour Cassel also star in the drama.

Gillies has also signed to CW's "The Originals," the spinoff series of "The Vampire Diaries," where he will reprise his role as Elijah Mikaelson.

Meanwhile, Cook is the latest Hollywood star to become a mother. "Sopranos" star Jamie Lynn Sigler, "Veep" star Anna Chlumsky, and Evan Rachel Wood have all become mothers this year, among many more.
