Republican rivals react to Trump's indictment: 'No one is above the law'

DeSantis took to Twitter to cite Trump's indictment as the latest example of "the weaponization of federal law enforcement" and the "mortal threat" it poses to a "free society."

"We have for years witnessed an uneven application of the law depending upon political affiliation," he insisted. 

"Why so zealous in pursuing Trump yet so passive about Hillary or Hunter [Biden]?" he continued.

DeSantis' question reflects a feeling among many conservatives who feel there is a double standard in how federal law enforcement responded to allegations of wrongdoing by 2016 presidential candidate Hillary Clinton and President Biden's son Hunter compared to Trump and Republicans.

DeSantis vowed that should he win the presidency, he would work to "bring accountability to the [Department of Justice], excise political bias and end weaponization once and for all."
