Revenge Season 5 Canceled or Renewed? ABC Cancels Series, Season 4 Will Be Last

ABC's drama series "Revenge" is saying goodbye to viewers soon. The show's Executive Producer Sunil Nayar made the announcement last week. The season finale will be aired on May 10 at 10 p.m. E.T. on ABC.

Nayar said, "We can officially tell our fans that this will be the end of our story," according to Entertainment Weekly.

The show is coming to an end after running for four seasons. When the show was first seen in 2011, it was a hit with 10 million viewers watching it on Wednesday nights. It was one of the network's strong performers. There was a slight decline in the ratings when the network decided to move its timeslot to Sundays.

It was able to cultivate a legion of fans who follow the story of Emily Thorne a.k.a. Amanda Clarke (played by Emily VanCamp), as she plots and carries out her revenge on the Grayson family, led by Victoria Grayson (played by Madeleine Stowe). This same set of fans are eagerly anticipating what will happen next to the series' protagonist as the series ends.

Nayar also cited that the decision to end the series was a joint one between the show's producers and the network. He mentioned that although they had a pitch about additional seasons, but the network and the studio "erred on the side of creativity." He added, "They really got the sense with us as their partners that we all came up with a great way to end these stories."

In terms of the ending, he also shared that there will be a "tiny little cliffhanger" in the season finale, but he also promises fans that there will be closure. Speculations abound about the fate of the series' protagonist as the past few episodes found her in jail after Victoria Grayson kills herself and frames Emily for her death.

Nayar had this to say about the season finale titled "Two Graves," "…the hard part about a finale in a show like this is you want to give them what they want, some of what they don't know they want yet and some of what they never expected… I truly believe our finale is a perfect mix of all those things."
