Rex Hudler's Foul Ball Catch: Commentator Tosses Souvenir to Little Boy (VIDEO)

Rex Hudler's foul ball catch surprised Kansas City Royals fans during the baseball game on Saturday. The announcer for the team managed to catch a foul ball during play while broadcasting.

Rex Hudler's foul ball catch came in the bottom of the second inning. Salvador Perez, the Royals catcher, stepped up to the plate. The Seattle Mariners' Chris Young pitched high, but Perez swung, clipping the ball behind him.

"Back our way Hud right at you," fellow commentator Steve Physioc said quickly. "Yes!" he added at Hudler's bare-handed catch.

After he caught the foul ball, Hudler flexed to the exuberant crowd and showed off. Then he looked below and threw down the ball to a young fan in a Royals cap.

"And there's Rex Hudler making another Royals fan happy," Physioc said. "So nice to be in the game," Hudler said.

"That little man right there, he is hungry for a ball. He just got him a big league souvenir," the color commentator added.

Hudler's exciting catch didn't transition to the Royals, who ended up losing to the Mariners 2-1 after giving up a run in the ninth inning and failing to recover. This was Kansas City's third straight loss after a 10-game winning streak, Fansided reported.

Hudler, 53, has played for various major league teams in his career. He played for the New York Yankees, the Baltimore Orioles, the St. Louis Cardinals, the California Angels and the Philadelphia Phillies, among others.

After his retirement he became the color commentator for the Anaheim Angels from 1999 to 2009, then became the commentator for the Royals in 2012.
