Rita Hayworth's Grandson Found Dead in New York City Apartment (VIDEO)
The grandson of Hollywood icon Rita Hayworth, Andrew Embiricos, was found dead in his Manhattan apartment Sunday night.
Although his cause of death will not be confirmed until an autopsy is complete, investigators suspect suicide by suffocation to be the reason for the young socialite’s sudden death.
As Michael Musto of The Village Voice wrote on his blog Monday, Embiricos had battled HIV and went through multiple rehab stints to battle drug addiction.
Musto suggests Embiricos had surpassed his past battle with suicide and depression, and perhaps was practicing something for pleasure, not pain.

“Isn’t it possible that Andrew was experimenting with autoerotic asphyxiation?” Questioned Musto.
A friend found the 25-year-old in his apartment at The Grand Chelsea in New York City with a bag over his head.
Embiricos, a psychology graduate of Fordham University, was the son of philanthropist Princess Yasmin Aga Khan, who lives off Central Park West in New York City, and Greek shipping heir Basil Embiricos.
“Of course Princess Yasmin Aga Khan and her former husband are deeply saddened by the death of their son Andrew Embiricos in New York on Sunday night," a spokesperson for the Aga Khan Foundation told People magazine. “They would really appreciate if their privacy would be respected in the very difficult moment.”
According to the New York Daily News, previous reports from 2007 indicate Embiricos practiced as an amateur pornographer, posting his exploits on XTube, including one video entitled “Chelsea Bareback Whores.”
Embiricos is the grandson of famed Hollywood starlet Rita Hayworth, whose classic beauty made her one of America’s most beloved film stars in the 1940s and the 1950s. She starred in such classics as “Cover Girl” and “Gilda,” and became an iconic American pin-up girl.
Hayworth died at the age of 68 due to complications with Alzheimer's Disease.
