Russell Crowe and 'Noah' Filming Delayed by Hurricane Sandy

Ironically, Russell Crowe and the crew filming "Noah" have been delayed because of Hurricane Sandy this week.

The Darren Aronofsky-directed film following Noah in the colossal Biblical storm faced cancellations due to the intense storm system that hit the East Coast earlier this week.

A replica of Noah's ark sits in Oyster Bay, New York, while a much larger and elaborate replica is used for filming in Brooklyn, New York.

While the storm raged and left destruction in its path, the ark in Oyster Bay was "partially dismantled," according to The Los Angeles Times.

One of the film's stars, Emma Watson, humorously took to Twitter about the ordeal.

"I take it that the irony of a massive storm holding up the production of Noah is not lost on Darren Aronofsky [and] Russell Crowe," wrote the "Harry Potter" actress.

Crowe also updated his thousands of Twitter followers earlier this week.

"Sitting in a Hurricane, just like any other day… I'll wait to see what blows in with the wind," wrote the lead actor and Australian native.

Alternately, "Noah" director Aronofsky used the break in work to catch up on other films, posting to Twitter: "also caught cloud atlas. Wonderfully entertaining, zany, great fun. Really enjoyed the glow of it afterwards. Left a halo in my mind."

The director added, "the master is masterful. Beautiful statement on human change. Have I ever seen a performance like joaquin's work? #scenestealer."

"Noah" also stars Jennifer Connelly and Sir Anthony Hopkins. It is expected in theaters in March 2014.

Shooting delays for "Noah" were not the only halts in entertainment production this week. Jimmy Kimmel was forced to cancel his show at the Brooklyn Academy of Music on Monday night, and New York City closed all of its Broadway theaters.
