Samsung Galaxy S2 Release Date: 4G LTE Model Launching on AT&T

The Samsung Galaxy S2 will rerelease on the AT&T network on Nov. 6 as one of the network's first 4G LTE powered smartphones.

AT&T announced in a statement that the LTE version of the Galaxy S2 would be released under the variant name Skyrocket. The 4G LTE model of the HTC Vivid will also be released on Nov. 6.

A recent leak of a Federal Communications Commission document revealed that LTE versions of the Galaxy S2 could soon be available in the United States, and AT&T's statement has confirmed these specifications.

The leak detailed that the specs of the U.S. Galaxy S2 LTE would include a 4.5-inch display, 1.5GHz dual-core processor, Android 2.3.5 Gingerbread, 8-megapixel rear camera with 1080p HD recording, 2-megapixel front facing shooter, 16 GB of built-in storage, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and NFC.

The leak also suggested that the U.S. Galaxy S2 LTE would also be compatible with LTE, HSPA + and CDMA networks.

AT&T's statement has confirmed the smartphone's compatibility with LTE and HSPA + networks but not the CDMA network; AT&T is a known GSM network.

The Galaxy S2 Skyrocket LTE will sell for $249.99 with a two-year contract plus data plan.

AT&T's data plans include DataPlus that provides 200 megabytes of data for $15 per month and DataPro that provide 2 GB of data for $25 per month.

The HTC Vivid will sell for $199.99 with a two-year contract. Its specs include a 4.5-inch qHD display, 1.2 GHz dual-core processor, an enhanced 8-megapixel camera with 1080p HD video recording and 16 GB of built-in storage.

The phones will be available in Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas-Fort Worth, Houston and San Antonio where AT&T's LTE network is currently available.

AT&T announced its LTE network would debut in Baltimore, Washington, D.C., Athens and Boston on Nov. 6.
