Samsung Galaxy S3 Pre-Ordered by 10 Million Customers

The upcoming Samsung Galaxy S3 smartphone has reportedly been pre-ordered by 10 million customers around the world, according to a recent tweet by industry insider Eldar Murtazin.

During a back and forth Twitter session with another user known as Jan Ole Suhr, he mentioned the large amount a reservations that have been placed on the device.

"You said it's a niche device, but does that mean it really is?" tweeted Suhr. "It surely looks [like a] niche device, but I think it isn't."

"@Janole it is," retweeted Murtazin. "In comparison with 10 mln pre-orders for sgs3."

This certainly is not that first time that a rumor regarding the Samsung Galaxy S3 has originated from the mouth of Murtazin.

Last month he stated that the new smartphone would feature a body crafted from ceramic material.

"SGS3 finalized and go to production," tweeted Murtazin last month. "Preorders from operators/retailers are really highest for all Galaxy line history (finally-ceramic)."

The Samsung Galaxy S3 should launch sometime this month if Murtazin's statements are accurate, as are the company's plans.

Other recent rumors have pointed to an April released for the device, but that would require Samsung to unveil the handset within the next few weeks, since the company also stated that it did not want the launch and reveal to occur that far apart in time.

The new smartphone is confirmed to have a 4.6-inch high-definition SUPER AMOLED display with 1280x720 pixels of resolution and a pixel density of 319ppi.

Other rumors state that the Galaxy S2's successor will feature wireless charging, 4G LTE connectivity, Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, NFC (near-field communications), a quad-core processor and an 8-megapixel camera.

Galaxy device will be Samsung's answer to the next generation iPhone that is rumored to be featuring 4G LTE connectivity, a quad-core processor, high-definition Retina display, NFC, and an improved version of Apple's voice recognition and personal assistant software system known as Siri.
