Samsung Galaxy S6 Specs Rumors: Prototype Image Revealed?

The tech world was put into frenzy when a photo of an alleged prototype of the yet-to-be announced flagship from Samsung, the Samsung Galaxy S6 surfaced on the Web over the weekend.

The image of the purported prototype S6 first made its appearance on the Dutch blog site Toptienmobiel.com. On the mentioned site, a person is holding a white smartphone that bears the brand label of the South Korean-based tech company.

The leaked image also featured the device having quite a large screen size and is surrounded by ultra-thin bezel and metal edges. It also suggests that the smartphone has a very thin design.

GSMArena.com, who also picked up the story, said that it isn't really clear if the alleged Samsung Galaxy S6 prototype is made of metal.

However, their story was updated to claim that the photo is actually fake.

"It turns out that the purported photo you see above is not the real deal. The image was quickly debunked by the folks from NowhereElse.com," GSMArena declared on their report.

CNet also assumed that the viral image, along with its unsupported claims, should be taken "with the proverbial grain of salt."

"It's possible that the smartphone is simply a prototype that will never launch. Samsung has stayed tight-lipped on the matter and has not responded to a request for comment," as what the publication stated.

This isn't the first time talks concerning the Samsung Galaxy S-series follow-up were swirling around the Internet.

Previous reports said that Samsung is building the next Samsung Galaxy "from the ground up" which could mean that it will don a totally "new look or design" and will probably be encased in a "new material."

Word on the streets also suggested that the device will either have a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 or Exynos 7420 chipset, a 5.5-inch QHD Super AMOLED display, and a 20MP primary camera.
