'Scandal' Season 4 News, Spoilers: Olivia Pope's Mother to Return in the Show's Midseason Finale
Fans will see the looming dark days arriving for the main character of the hit political drama series "Scandal" Season 4 as one of the most frightening characters will soon return in the show's midseason finale.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Olivia Pope's (Kerry Washington) mother, Maya Pope (Khandi Alexander) was confirmed to return during the Nov. 20 showing titled "Where the Sun Don't Shine."
Mama Pope, as what she is called, first appeared in "Icarus" as a dangerous woman who made money selling government secrets.
One of the most tragic incidents that Marie Wallace had caused was when she tipped off her husband Eli Pope (Joe Morton) about a bomb in a plane. Eli as well as President Fitz Grant (Tony Goldwyn) panicked and resorted in shooting down the plane, killing 329 innocent people on board. It was found out that everything Maya said was a lie.
She was imprisoned and Olivia was led to believe that her mother was dead.
Nothing much has been known about the details on how Mama Pope will return. However, reports maintain that the return of the vicious matriarch could prove to be a bad thing for her daughter, the president and even to Papa Pope.
Aside from her mama issues, the crisis manager has yet to deal with her other fair share of problems. As remembered, Jake (Scott Foley) was captured and questioned by the president for the murder of Fitz's son, Jerry.
For the upcoming episode titled "Baby Made a Mess," Olivia will have to deal more with the Jake issue and the "truce" she made with Fitz.
"Meanwhile, Huck (Guillermo Diaz) continues to play with fire, Mellie makes a power move and Elizabeth's shocking alliance is revealed," the synopsis reads.
"Scandal" Season 4 Episode 7 airs this Thursday, Nov. 6, at 9 p.m. on ABC.
