Kerry Washington Shares How Her Pregnancy Will Affect 'Scandal' Season 6

After the reveal that Kerry Washington is expecting her second child, there has been a lot of speculations on how her pregnancy will be handled in the new season of "Scandal." To settle the matter on her character's fate, Washington was able to share her thoughts on the issue.

Will Olivia Pope Be Pregnant Too?

Many fans are wondering whether the new season will incorporate Washington's pregnancy. Washington addressed the rumors on E! News, stating that her character, Olivia Pope, will be pregnany in the upcoming season. While she did not confirm anything, she hinted that raising a kid in the environment that Pope is living in would bring a lot of problems.

She said that at the moment, the writers do not have a plan to bring a child into Pope's world, especially since the character just went through an abortion. However, she revealed that as of now, they are not allowed to share anymore on the upcoming season, and writers could still change their decision on the matter.

Washington and Husband are Excited

Whether or not Pope will be pregnant, Washington and her husband Nnamdi Asomugha are excited to bring another addition to their family. Last year, Washington gave birth to their first-born child, Isabella. The couple announced Washington's second pregnancy last May.

In a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight, Washington expressed her enthusiasm about her second pregnancy. She said, "I look a little curvier than usual. I look blessed. We're all really excited. We'll see how it all plays out. I'm an only child, so I'm like, 'What's this going to be like?' but I think it's going to be great."

'Scandal' Season 6 Updates -- When Does Production Start?

In the same interview, Washington revealed that she was currently on hiatus for "Scandal." However, she explained that she will start working on the series again next month. She reassured fans, "I'll be going back to work in July. I'll be waddling my way around OPA [Olivia Pope & Associates]. Don't worry."

Therefore, fans can expect to see Olivia in the upcoming season, despite the pregnancy. There were reports indicating that the release date of the season will be moved to accommodate Washington's pregnancy. However, there has yet to be any official news regarding the matter.
