Scotty McCreery, Lauren Alaina Both Botch Thanksgiving Performances

"American Idol" alums Scotty McCreery and Lauren Alaina have made disastrous errors during each of their Thanksgiving Day performances on Thursday.

McCreery won the 10th season of the singing competition this year, and during Macy's 85th annual Thanksgiving Day Parade was caught lip syncing. The 18-year-old's new "The Trouble With Girls" was playing when the singer stood motionless on the float until he caught up with the music.

In a separate Thanksgiving Day event, McCreery's former "Idol" competitor and friend Lauren Alaina took the stage at the NFL game between the Detroit Lions and the Green Bay Packers.

The 17-year-old sang the "Star Spangled Banner," and like so many performers before her, botched the lyrics to the song.

Alaina paused at the lyric, "What so proudly we hailed at the twilight's last gleaming," failing to remember the words.

"I'm not a robot. I have no excuses," the singer posted on her Twitter account after the performance. "I messed up. You know, what can you do? At least I didn't fall down again."

"Thank you everyone for the kind words. But the truth is I messed up," Alaina continued on Twitter Thursday. "I'm gonna spend the rest of the day being thankful for all my blessings."

McCreery and Alaina became very close during their time on "American Idol." Both young performers are outspoken and proud of their Christian faith.

The youngest male “Idol” winner in the show’s history, record-breaking McCreery openly discussed his faith and reliance on God during the competition. Always donning a cross necklace, the singer told the audience when he won, “I’ve got to thank the Lord first, He got me here.”

The day after winning “American Idol,” McCreery shared his feelings about Alaina’s song, “My thought was that [Lauren] wrapped it up when she sang that momma song, it’s one of the most beautiful songs I’ve heard.”

Alaina, also a country singer, was runner-up to McCreery during the show. McCreery said after the end of the competition, “Lauren, she’s sweet. She’s been supporting me and I’ve been supporting her through this whole process. We’re really close friends and we both came out winners last night.”
