Sheryl Swoopes under investigation for player maltreatment

Former WNBA superstar Sheryl Swoopes is reportedly under investigation after the majority of the players she coaches at Loyola University decided to transfer to other programs. According to reports, the Hall of Famer is being accused of mistreatment by those players who ultimately decided to jump ship.

According to FOX Sports, the five players who elected to transfer last season all had the same reason, while the program's spokesperson, Leo Krause, confirmed to the network that only two of the twelve players have remained committed to returning to the university women's basketball team.

In separate sources' accounts, coach Swoopes reportedly had her way on everything, including interfering with the personal lives of the players. "She really pushes them to the point of misery and to the point where they shut down," one source revealed.

In response to the accusations, the school was left with no choice but to conduct an investigation, and the good news is that the coach herself assured that she will be fully cooperative on the process.

After a stellar professional basketball career highlighted by four titles with the Houston Comets and three Olympic gold medals, Swoopes entered ventured into coaching back in 2013, but her time with Loyola University hasn't really been as successful as her playing career. So far, she owns a 31-62 record and no important women's college basketball titles to date. With the kind of success she obtained during her playing career, Swoopes was elected to the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame earlier this month, joining some of the most recognizable names in basketball.

Right after the news broke out about the mass transfers of players previously handled by Swoopes, the school deputy director of athletics, Jermaine Truax, released a statement, saying that the accusations are "more than concerning" and that Swoopes was already made aware of it.
