Simon Cowell Baby News 'Awesome,' Says Ex Carmen Electra

Carmen Electra voiced her reaction to the news that her ex love interest, Simon Cowell, is expecting a child with the wife of a close friend.

Reports Monday indicated that Cowell is expecting a child with Lauren Silverman, who is in the process of getting a divorce from Cowell's close friend, Andrew Silverman.

Despite the contentious details surrounding the "X-Factor" creator's baby news, Electra expressed positive regards during VH1's Do Something Awards on Wednesday.

"I'm so happy for him," the actress told E! News. Electra briefly dated Cowell in September of 2012.

"What I witnessed working with him on 'Britain's Got Talent' and coming to see him during 'X-Factor' is that the people he truly believes in, he stands up for them and supports them. So I obviously think that his child will be very well taken care of and very, very loved," the model added.

"I'm going to call him as soon as I get in the car after the event," 41-year-old Electra continued. "I want to know it it's a boy or a girl. It's awesome. I'm super happy for him. He's lovely."

Meanwhile, Cowell has remained mum about the numerous headlines he is mentioned in this week.

A rep for the television personality in the U.K. said that Cowell's attorney is handling the "very sensitive issue" in the U.S., according to People.com.

It is believed that Cowell and the Silvermans have known each other for seven years, according to USA Today.

Nevertheless, the child will be the 53-year-old judge's first baby.

Alternately, Lauren Silverman already has a 7-year-old son with her soon-to-be ex- husband. The 36-year-old was reportedly "unhappy in her marriage" to real estate mogul Andrew, People reported.

As for the Silverman's divorce, Cowell has been named as an adulterer according to the documents, reported the New York Post.
