Sony Xperia Z3 vs Google Nexus 5 Comparison: Specs and Features Review

It's a battle of the Android phones as we pit the Sony Xperia Z3 against the Google Nexus 5. The Nexus 5 showcases the Android operating system in its purest form and is one of the best looking handsets around at an affordable price, while the Xperia Z3 gives other Android devices a run for its money as it is basically an improved version of the Xperia Z2.

Here, we compare the two devices.

Design:
The Nexus 5 retains the Nexus minimalistic design, with its straight edges, sharp curves, and curved back. The device measures 5.43 x 2.72 x 0.34 inches and weighs 4.59 ounces. The handset is available in black, white, and bright red.

The Sony Xperia Z3 measures 5.75 x 2.83 x 0.29 inches and weighs 5.36 ounces. The phone has rounded edges and is slightly smaller and thinner than its predecessor. The Z3 is waterproof and has an IP58 rating and can survive up to 1.5 meters underwater for 30 minutes. However, it's not recommended to dunk the phone in salt water. The phone is available in copper gold, black, white, and silver green.

Features:
The Nexus 5 has a 4.95-inch screen with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels and pixel density of 445ppi. The screen displays accurate colors, but not as vivid as those viewed on other premium phones' displays as it sometimes appears to cast a grayish light on some images.

Both phones are available in the 16GB and 32GB variants, but the Xperia Z3 offers expansion via microSD card, and the Nexus 5 does not.

Price:
The Nexus 5 costs $450 off contract, while the Xperia Z3 costs $566 off contract.
