'Supernatural' Season 11 Spoilers: A Not-So-Imaginary Friend Makes an Appearance

"Supernatural" Season 11 is set to premiere in early October and spoilers from some of its 23 episodes are beginning to emerge online.

With "Supernatural" due to air on The CW next week, Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean Winchester (Jensen Ackles) will be returning with a surprise guest when the fantasy horror series returns for its Season 11 premiere.

After the Season 10 finale left audiences on a cliffhanger with The Darkness ready to take over, and the demon Crowley (Mark Sheppard) hanging on the line, Padalecki and Ackles revealed several hints about what to expect when "Supernatural" returns.

One thing audiences can look forward to is a flashback to Sam and Dean's childhood, one of the many forays back into the demon hunter brothers' past like in previous episodes of the show.

Come Season 11, another segue into the characters' boyhood will take a look at a bittersweet memory during the time they spent at Sonny's Home for Boys, and when Sam fought back against a notorious bully.

The Season 11 premiere will also focus on one of Sam's many quirks, namely, that he used to have an imaginary friend.

Secondly, that Sam's imaginary friend turns out to be not-so-imaginary, after all.

The surprise comes when the sometimes-imaginary pal turns up during an episode entitled "Just My Imagination," to approach the brothers for help.

Sully (Nate Torrence), as Sam had named his sometimes-invisible buddy during the lonely days he spent waiting for Dean and John (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) to come back from one of their hunts, suddenly turns up with a request for assistance. What his cry for help is all about will be discovered when Season 11 returns.

A previous guest star is also expected to return in Season 11, this time behind the scenes. Angel Gabriel (Richard Speight, Jr.), who also played The Trickster on several episodes of the show will be back to direct the "Just My Imagination" episode.

"Supernatural" Season 11 will return to The CW on October 7 at 9pm.
