'Supernatural' Season 13 Plot News, Air Date: Is Love in the Cards for Sam and Dean?

Fans can look forward to more fighting and action in the upcoming season of "Supernatural," but can they expect any romance for the Winchester brothers?

Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) have always been busy fighting off bad guys and demons, so they naturally do not have a lot of time to go out and date. And executive producer Andrew Dabb believes that it is going to stay that way — at least for a while.

"I don't think this is that show, honestly," Dabb told TVLine. "Neither of them is looking for love, let's put it that way."

Dabb explained that the Winchester brothers may have once thought that they could leave their world behind, settle down, and start a family. However, it became increasingly clear to them over the seasons that it was just not a viable option for them. They would rather focus on the fight and devote their time to saving the world.

"They know they're going to fight until they can't fight anymore, either until they win or they die. When you're committed to that fight, the idea of bringing someone into that and being like, 'Hey, let's get married' [doesn't compute]," he continued. "I'm not sure either of our guys is really looking for that at this point in time."

On the upside, Dabb did not totally discount the idea of Sam and Dean eventually living a normal life in the future. In the meantime, they have a chance to test out their parenting skills in the upcoming 13th season. A preview of that can be seen in photos taken from the second episode of the next installment.

As fans may recall, Lucifer's (Mark Ross Pellegrino) son, Jack (Alexander Calvert), was left behind after the devil fell into a different dimension. Dabb said that since Jack was still a "blank slate," he was highly susceptible to the influence of others. Now that he will be in the care of Sam and Dean, the Winchester brothers can still mold his character.

"Supernatural" season 13 will premiere on Thursday, Oct. 12, 8 p.m. EDT on The CW.
