Taylor Swift Invites Cancer Patient to ACM Awards After Facebook Campaign

Country music star Taylor Swift has made a New Jersey high school cancer patient's dream come true after she asked him to be her date for the Academy of Country Music Awards.

Swift was able to ask Kevin McGuire to the ACM awards after being unable to accept his invitation to his high school's prom.

The online invitation campaign started on Facebook and was created by his sister, Victoria. The Facebook page "Taylor Swift take KEVIN McGUIRE TO PROM!" was created to persuade the music star to attend McGuire's prom at Sterling High School in Somerdale, New Jersey.

"Kevin is the kindest, most noble 18 year old a person could even fathom meeting," his sister wrote on the site. "And throughout his ups and downs Kevin never even questioned 'why me?' Nothing, and I mean NOTHING brightens Kevin's day more than Taylor Swift."

Victoria explains that there is nothing that gives her brother more joy than Taylor Swift. When he talked about being unable to go to school, she said he could still go to the prom, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer.

"He said, 'Who's going to want to go with me? I'm going to be bald,'" Victoria said. "What if I got Taylor Swift to go with you?" she said.

"She's just his favorite singer, he refers to her as perfect, and I said, 'I'll get your perfect girl for your prom,'" she revealed.

Swift was unable to take up Victoria's invitation, but she went one better and invited him to the ACM Awards, which take place on April 1 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.

Swift asked Kevin to the ACM awards on her Facebook page.

"Kevin, I'm so sorry but I won't be able to make it to your prom, But I was wondering, the ACM Awards are coming up. Would you be my date? Love, Taylor."
